Are your Halloween weekend sales down compared to past years? You’re not alone!
With Halloween falling on a Thursday this year, both clients and customers across all of North America are a bit confused as to when they want to get into costume. We’ve analyzed the data from 750+ events across North America comparing 2012 to 2013, and this is what we found:
Sales for pre-Halloween weekend are down 25%
- Sales are down 17% on Friday and 28% on Saturday. While there were some winners and losers here, the majority of clients holding events on this weekend were disappointed.
Sales For October 31st are up over 50%
- Sales to date for Oct 31st events are up over 50% from last year.
Sales for events on Nov 1 & 2 are up over 2,200%
- Many of our clients have been adding events for Nov 1st and 2nd…and have already been seeing sell outs! clubZone club crawls are operating this weekend in over 20 cities and sales are looking very strong. If you haven’t yet posted a Halloween event for the Nov 1 & 2 weekend, we highly recommend that you do.
Just in case you were too busy worrying about this year to look forward: Halloween 2014 falls on a Friday, meaning the Oct 31- Nov 2nd 2014 weekend is expected to be crazy! Be sure to book your venues and talent well in advance to beat the opportunistic event promoters hopping on this date.
We hope you find this information useful in helping you plan your expectations for this coming week. If you need help taking advantage of this year’s unique Halloween date, be sure to reach out to your rep or account manager.
If you have any insight to share about this trend, both positive and negative, please share it in the comments!
